Highly-rated England starlet Wilfred Zaha showed exactly why Manchester United paid £15m for him on Monday night as his two goals set up a Championship play-off final with Watford.

Having agreed to join the Red Devils in January, he has remained at Crystal Palace on loan until the end of this campaign as part of the deal - and having scored just once since agreeing to the switch, many people would be forgiven for wondering if snapping him up at the age of 20 was a little to premature.

With England caps to his name already, and some fine performances at under-21 level, much has been expected of Zaha already. And it seemed as if, until last night, that the pressures of his move to Old Trafford and the emphasis on his head as an international footballer may have got to him.

But a brace against Brighton last night reassured the United fans that they have signed a potential star in Zaha.

Speaking after the victory that will see his Palace side travel to Wembley to face Gianfranco Zola's Watford for the final place in next season's Premier League, Holloway said: "He's a genius, he's a wonderful boy and he cares about Crystal Palace.

"He was the difference. I believe he will be a world-class player."

And although he won't be playing in the stripes of Palace next season, you can be sure that should they make a return to the Premier League, Zaha is a name that will be remembered around Selhurst Park for years to come.

Despite his rise, Zaha failed to win any accolades at Palace's end of season player awards, but his efforts for the team were not forgotten as Holloway explains.

He added: "How can he not win a trophy? So we all clubbed together and bought him one."

There has been no doubt for some time that Zaha has the ability to become something special. He has taken the Championship by storm and has helped Palace towards a really good chance of regaining their Premier League status.

Having been missing from the scoresheet for some time, these goals will help the confidence of Zaha tremendously before he finally makes the move up north to United and begins to prepare for a new and exciting challenge in his already impressive career.
