Chelsea are prepared to let promising young winger Kevin de Bruyne leave this summer after he agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund, but it could mean the end of another Stamford Bridge deal.
According to German newspaper Bild, De Bruyne has come to an agreement over a five-year deal to join the Champions League finalists, which may mean the end of Chelsea’s move for Germany international Andre Schürrle.
The report claims De Bruyne is one of Dortmund manager Jürgen Klopp’s main targets for this summer and the Belgian in keen to link up with them in favour of moving to Bayer Leverkusen.
Chelsea were reportedly close to finalising a deal with Leverkusen over the sale of forward Schürrle but it relied on De Bruyne being part of the deal.
The 21-year-old prefers a move to the recently deposed Bundesliga champions and the report claims this will put off Chelsea’s move for Schürrle until at least 2014.
De Bruyne has spent this season on loan at Werder Bremen and impressed many with his performances in the Bundesliga.
Chelsea signed the Belgium international from Genk in January last year, but was loaned back to them and did not make a competitive appearance for the Blues before he was loaned out to Bremen.
