Lazio defender Stefan Radu has not held talks with Manchester City about a summer move to England, according to his agent Victor Becali.

The Romanian international has been heavily linked with a move to the Premier League, after his representative recently suggested that the Citizens wanted to buy Radu ahead of the new campaign.

However, Becali has since played down speculation suggesting his client is on his way to the Etihad Stadium, after the recent sacking of Roberto Mancini.

"In Romania, some of my statements about transfers need to be clarified relating to Manchester City," he told Tutto Mercato

"I want to clarify that there has never been any contact with the English club and there is no offer for Radu."

Malaga coach Manuel Pellegrini is the bookies favourite to become the next Manchester City boss, with suggestions the Chilean will be appointed after the club's post-season tour of the United States.

Brian Kidd will take charge of first-team affairs for the remaining two Premier League games, while the board considers their next approach.

If Manchester City's interest in Radu was legitimate, the arrival of a new manager with new ideas and different transfer targets might put pay to the 26-year-old's prospect of a summer transfer.
