Arsenal midfielder Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain insists that the Gunners will use their defeats this season as a catalyst to their performance against Wigan Athletic tonight.

It's been a up-and-down season for Arsenal with many set-backs faced over the campaign and the Gunners have two massive games to end their season.

They face relegation-threatened Wigan Athletic tonight at the Emirate in a must-win game for both teams and they then travel to St James Park to face Newcastle United in another must-win game if their Champions League status is to be assured.

The last few months have been successful for Arsene Wenger's side as their impressive run of form has put them in a strong position for a top-four finish, which many people questioned earlier on in the season.

The impressive form came straight after being knocked out of all three cup competitions.

The side lost to Bradford City in the Capital One Cup and were then knocked out of the FA Cup by Blackburn City. Those two shock upsets were then followed by defeat to Bayern Munich in the Champions League last-16.

Oxlade-Chamberlain believes the negatives from the season can be used as a catalyst to put in a good performance in their final two games and the English international is confident that his side can finish above Tottenham in the league.

"I know from what I've seen this year that it hasn't gone great in certain competitions for us," Oxlade-Chamberlain told Arsenal Player.

"I think the disappointment in those competitions has really brought out the hunger in the rest of the boys and our team to see how much we all really do want it and the fans want it and the manager wants it.

"I've got a lot of belief and faith in my team-mates and this club to stand up and really fight for what we want. That's a Champions League spot now.

"I'm sure Wigan will be fighting for the points as well and the teams around us will but it is who wants it most. Sometimes you just have to compete.

"We're going to have to make sure we do that if we don't play so well and then it can come down to a case of pure fight and who wants it more. We've always got the quality in our side as well."
