Top five Premier League relegation transfer gems (7)

Bonus – Roberto Martinez, Wigan Athletic

The focus on this top five was on players but possibly the most valuable asset from the clubs teetering on the brink is the young Spanish manager.

It may seem illogical to be rating a manager whose team have only just avoided the drop almost every season he has been in charge, but the resources at Martinez’s disposal have many wondering how he has been able to do it.

Everton has been cited as a possible destination since Davis Moyes was confirmed as Sir Alex Ferguson’s successor at Manchester United – beating the Premier League champion’s fierce rivals in the FA Cup final last weekend won’t have done Martinez’s chances any harm.
