The Prawn Sandwich brigade

The highest attendance at a football match held at Old Trafford is 76,962 - and Manchester United weren't even playing.

It was in fact the FA Cup semi-final between Wolverhampton Wanderers and Grimsby Town on 25 March 1939. Now converted to an all-seater, the Red Devils will never be able to beat this record unless they redevelop the stadium.
