Gareth Bale has been linked to a summer move to Real Madrid after an outstanding season at Tottenham.
Bale has taken the Premier League by storm this season, and won both the Player of the Year and Young Player of the Year awards this year.
Here we look at what the Welsh international would bring to the Bernabeu and the impact it would have on teams in La Liga and Europe.
The Ronaldo-Bale partnership
Most people see the acquisition of Bale as a direct replacement for Ronaldo and although both players play significant roles for their clubs the transfer should not be related to the sale of Ronaldo.
Ronaldo may have hinted of being far from happy at the Bernabeu but has recently conceded that he will see out the remainder of his contract at the club.
This means that Bale is being lined up to play along with Ronaldo rather than a replacement. Their partnership will be feared and would provide some breath taking football and make Real Madrid's counter attacking play even more dangerous.
Impact on La Liga
Barcelona have dominated La Liga in recent years (except for last season) and with the addition of Gareth Bale the scales may tip in Madrid's favour.
Barcelona themselves seem to be a team in decline and they might have won the La Liga in a canter but they have struggled in Europe and their defence has been exposed.
If Madrid buy Bale Barcelona would have to strengthen their squad considerably to compete with Madrid.
Impact on Europe
The Purchase of Bale would also impact Madrid in Europe with the club being eliminated at the semi-final stage and he might be the missing link to take them to the coveted tenth European crown.
If Bale moves to Spain it would be a great loss to the Premier League but a significant power play by Madrid in order to ensure European and Spanish domination.
