Manchester City have not made a bid for Velez Sarsfield defender Gino Peruzzi, according to the club's sporting director, Christian Bassedas.
Sky Sports reports how the 20-year-old has attracted attention from a number of European clubs, with Inter Milan also believed to be monitoring the right-back's progress in Argentina.
However, Bassedas insists that the Premier League side have made no contact with Velez about the possibility of taking the player to England this summer.
"Inter Milan want Peruzzi? I don't know, you have to ask them," he told fcinternews.it. "Officially, there has not been contact but there is definitely an interest from their part.
"The interest of Manchester City? Right now there are only rumours but there are no official negotiations."
Pablo Zabaleta is currently Manchester City's first-choice right-back, and was named in the Premier League Team of the Year after an impressive 2012/13 campaign.
With Micah Richards also returning from an injury that has ruled him out for the majority of the season, the club are well stocked in that area, so speculation linking them with a move for Peruzzi might prove to be wide of the mark.
