Marouane Chamakh has opened the door to a return to France stating that there is a good chance he will be leaving Arsenal this summer.

The Moroccan international has struggled to make an impact in English football since his arrival from Bordeaux in 2010. Chamakh has only managed to score 14 goals in English football since his arrival, and made only three appearances in a West Ham shirt following his loan move from Arsenal.

The form of Andy Carroll at West Ham has made it difficult for Chamakh to make any impact under Sam Allardyce, and it seems that the Moroccan has conceded that it just wasn't to be in England.

Prior to his move to England, Chamakh was known for his traditional centre-forward like playing style. This was reflected by his performances whilst playing for Bordeaux, where he scored 76 goals in 301 appearances. But his form playing in France has not transferred to the English game.

Chamakh now finds himself fifth choice striker behind the likes of Oliver Giroud, Lukas Podolski, Theo Walcott and Gervinho.

Speaking to French website Le Sport 10 about his time playing for Bordeaux, Chamakh said: "I am always nostalgic. I spent so many good times here. Everyone knows that Bordeaux is a club that is in my heart. If I find an agreement with Bordeaux, why not."

"It has been three years since I left. Everyone knows that Bordeaux is in my heart. I may have to make sacrifices. There is a good chance that I will not stay at Arsenal. If I come back to France, it will be in Bordeaux," added Chamakh.
