Tottenham have missed Sandro this season

Tottenham star Sandro suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the 0-0 draw against QPR earlier in the season, and has be rehabilitating ever since.

The Brazilian midfielder was in good form before his injury and was the cog that powered the team in midfield - pushing Scott Parker out of the squad, he played alongside Mousa Dembele.

He swept up the mess in midfield while Dembele could move further up the field in confidence of his Brazilian beast. Before his injury he scored a screamer of a goal against Fulham and also gathered two assists from his deep-lying role in midfield.

Tottenham have missed Sandro: a young but strong mobile midfielder who does the simple stuff and he does it well.

He isn’t the creative midfielder in the sense of attacking, but that’s why football is a team sport. Sandro will lay it off to the likes of Dembele, Tom Huddlestone or Gareth Bale for example. His engine has been missed, his sometimes unmatchable strength simply cannot be replaced.

Sandro is well on his way to recovery now, long since his operation on his knee and has flown out to Brazil to ex-team Internacional to speed up his recovery.

He is due to return back to north London next season and should be fine to take part in next season's campaign. Sandro will be a key player once again next season - and, so long as he stays injury free, he should have a great season.
