Christian Benteke: Where will he be next season?
The powerful Belgian has been linked with the likes of Arsenal & Tottenham after a successful season
Aston Villa fans can breathe a sigh of relief, as their side will feature in the Premier League next season after they beat the drop.
They will however, still be nervous about whether or not they can keep their star man Christian Benteke, who contributed 23 goals this season, as big clubs are circling around the player looking to lure him away.
Tottenham Hotspur are said to be leading the Premier League chase for Benteke and the Belgian might just be good fit at White Hart Lane.
Tottenham have been without an efficient target man for most of the season as Jermain Defoe has had injury problems and Emmanuel Adebayor simply couldn’t find the goal whenever he played.
The Togolese only recently found some form in the striker role. Gareth Bale was burdened with the goal scoring responsibility and if Spurs manage to keep their Welsh talisman, Benteke could help take some pressure off.
Tottenham are not the only north London outfit reported to be interested as rivals Arsenal have been linked with a bid for the 22-year-old.
Arsenal are reported to have significant transfer funds at their disposal this summer and might look at luring the likes of Stevan Jovetic to the Emirates. However, Benteke will certainly complement the Emirates outfit with his smart link-up play and good passing abilities. Benteke has recently confirmed his love for Arsenal and this just fired on the rumours of a possible move.
As Robert Lewandowski is set to be leaving Borussia Dortmund, Jurgen Klopp will be looking to replace his star striker and Benteke could be the man he looks to. Benteke will likely stay in the Premier League but a rumoured move to the Champions League finalists can’t be ruled out. The Belgian would slot in perfectly in Klopp’s side and will certainly excel under the German’s mentorship.
The fourth and last destination reported to be interested in Benteke is Serie A’s Internazionale. However, Inter hasn’t done well this season and Benteke might see them as the least attractive option. But the Italian team look set be overhauled and to sign a powerful young striker would be a good start. Benteke’s agent told reporters that a move to Milan would be a dream when the Italians signalled their interest.
Out of the four, the Premier League clubs seem to be leading the chase for Benteke and Tottenham might just be slightly ahead of their north London rivals for the Belgian’s signature. But Dortmund can’t be ruled out and neither can Inter.
