Dutch star ends Manchester United & Liverpool interest
Liverpool & Manchester United transfer news: Stefan de Vrij signs new Feyenoord contract
Stefan de Vrij has moved to end speculation he could sign for Manchester United or Liverpool during the summer transfer window after the Netherlands international penned a new contract with Feyenoord.
The 21-year-old had been linked with a switch to the Premier League before the transfer deadline in August, but has resisted the overtures of prominent clubs in England to extend his stay in Rotterdam.
"It makes me happy to know I can continue to be part of this team and club for longer," De Vrij told the official Feyenoord website.
"I can see the potential here and of course I am pleased that Jordy remains for longer here too."
David Moyes' interest in De Vrij could have fitted perfectly with Manchester United's transfer strategy, although the Scot will now have to look elsewhere if he hopes to bring defensive reinforcements to Old Trafford.
Liverpool are also reported to be in the market for new recruits in central defence during the transfer window, with Jamie Carragher's retirement prompting Brendan Rodgers to identify potential targets to bring to Anfield.
