An own goal is bad enough - but there's definitely a sliding scale of terribleness.
A deflected shot is forgivable, a misdirected clearance happens sometimes. But a 20-yard own goal lob - that's just not very good.
Unfortunately for Mexican defender Rafael Figueroa, his own goal falls squarely into the 'not very good' category.
Down by two goals against Cruz Azul with the game almost over, Figueroa's Laguna side were pushing for a way back into the match.
But the centre-back had other ideas, racing onto a through ball to loft the ball home over his goalkeeper. OK, it's not quite as bad as we've made it sound here, but it's still not great.
