The recently-crowned La Liga champions, Barcelona, will surely stick to their word and bring in some reinforcements during the summer transfer window.

While the Catalans are still celebrating from gaining the title, they have also been victims of scrutiny after their humiliating exits from the Champions League semi-final and Copa del Rey competitions this season.

There is no doubt that Barca have a world-renowned midfield and are led by their talismanic forward, Lionel Messi, but they are lacking in defence -which brings us to our first possible transfer.

There have been plenty of rumours with no official confirmation except for that goalkeeper Victor Valdes wants to leave the Nou Camp.

The top three contenders to replace the Barca keeper are as follows: Vicente Guaita (Valencia), Marc-André ter Stegen (Borussia Mönchengladbach) and Thibaut Courtois (Chelsea).

With Diego Alves the main man in the back at Valencia, a move for Guaita may be what he needs to earn a more consistent starting role. Courtois has impressed for club and country this past season and will be on his way back to Chelsea very soon.

But with Petr Cech holding the No. 1 spot for the Blues it seems Courtois will seek more first-team action at another club - and since he has fit in so well in Spain, a move to Barca is not unlikely.

In Germany, ter Stegen has impressed his club and supposedly Barca's sporting directors as well. Gladbach may have some trouble holding on if the Catalans come calling.

As far as defenders, there is only one man seen most fit to bolster the suspect back-line - and that man could more than likely be Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels. A rock in Dortmund's defence with aerial ability and set-piece expertise, the pairing of Gerard Pique and Hummels at the back back could be a force to be reckoned with for any forward-line.

Barca are also set to make forward signing this summer. It seems Brazil star Neymar is a shoe-in, and until we hear any otherwise there is chance we will have the joy of watching Lionel Messi and Neymar tormenting La Liga and Europe next season.
