Liverpool revive interest in Spurs full-back

Liverpool have revived their interest in Tottenham Hotspur full-back Danny Rose, according to reports.

The Daily Mail claims Reds boss Brendan Rodgers tried and failed to sign the 22-year-old in the last two transfer windows, and has just £20million to play with this summer.

Andy Carroll, Stewart Downing and Jose Enrique are also heading for the Anfield exit door, according to the report, whilst Pepe Reina could be on the move to Barcelona.

Rose has enjoyed an impressive campaign on loan at Sunderland, becoming a first-team regular for both Martin O’Neill and Paolo Di Canio at the Stadium of Light.

However, his future at White Hart Lane is not definitely over, with Andre Villas-Boas admitting yesterday that Spurs might look to try and keep the player in north London.

"He's a player we have to consider. There are decisions to be made at this club in the summer. We have to look to build, but we are also aware that we have to hold on to good players to improve as a club,” the Tottenham Hotspur chief told the Sunderland Echo.

If Enrique were to leave Liverpool, then left-sided Rose would appear to be a solid replacement, although the England youth international will firstly be concerning himself with this summer's European Championships.
