The relegation battle was a well-fought one and was thoroughly entertaining - in the end Wigan Athletic, Reading and QPR lost their Premier League status.

There are a few players who have impressed this season and deserve to stay in the Premier League.

Here is a list of those players:

1. Julio Cesar

The QPR goalkeeper has been one of the reasons why the London outfit don't have the record for the lowest number of points.

Now, just imagine the Brazilian no.1 playing in the Championship. Doesn't make sense, does it? Fortunately there are teams looking for a quality shot-stopper and he might be shipped of to one of those clubs.

2. Shaun Maloney

The young Scottish winger has been in excellent form this season. Take away a few dives, and you have a player who has excelled this term, and definitely deserves to stay up.

3. Callum Mcmanaman

Another Wigan man who features on this list, the 22-year-old winger is an exciting prospect. Tantalising others with his speed and dribbling skills, the English man has had an impressive campaign and deserves to say in the top.

4. Loic Remy

The Frenchman was touted to be the next big thing at Marseille, and was making a name for himself. However, he moved to QPR and although he has scored an impressive six goals in 13 games this season, it's sad that his club will be relegated.

However, there are clubs in search for a reliable striker, and he most probably will leave Loftus Road.

5. Adam Le Fondre

With an impressive tally of 13 goals, the Englishman has been one of Readings bright sparks. His most memorable goals are against Chelsea, in the unforgettable comeback. With a player of his talent he deserves to stay in the Premier League.

6. Arouna Kone

The Ivorian has impressed many with his tally of 13 goals this season. A bargain buy indeed, his awareness, finishing accuracy and dangers in the box are valuable assets to Wigan Athletic, but now, he deserves to stay on top.

7.  James McCarthy

Yet another Wigan 22-year-old midfielder, he has played around a 126 matches for Wigan, despite being so young. His trickery and skill, are valuable to Wigan, but, he deserves to stay at the top.

8. Adel Taarabt

This list would be incomplete without the Moroccan. His pace, passes and the occasional goal have been extremely helpful to Queens Park Rangers, and they would be absolutely nowhere without the young lad.

9. Ali Al Habsi

The 'keeper has shown his class on many an occasion throughout his time at Wigan. Sadly, this season was tormented with injuries, but he will definitely continue to shine if he stays in the Premier League.

10. Christopher Samba

The man form Congo has received a lot of praise form Harry Redknapp. As 'Arry puts it: "Chris is just what we need. He's a monster. Great in the air, quick, a leader, strong, fantastic in both boxes, hard as nails. He's a proper centre-half. He was willing to take a massive pay cut."
