Wigan Warriors sensation Sam Tomkins took the plaudits once again as he inspired his side to a 64-6 demolition of London Broncos at the Stoop.
The England international was in imperious form for his side, scoring three tries – including a sublime solo effort – and creating three others for the Super League leaders.
It left head coach Shaun Wane struggling for superlatives about the 24-year-old, who remains the hottest property in rugby’s northern hemisphere.
"What can you say? Sam is a total one-off. He really is a class act, his competitive nature in training and on the pitch is a joy to see,” he said post-match.
"The individual try he scored today was one of the best I have ever seen, I just wish we had more players who had that attitude.
"For us to come here today and put on a performance like that leaves me ecstatic. Our attack was really crisp and I thought our concentration levels throughout were fantastic."
Wigan remain on course for a league and cup double this season, having been drawn against Widnes Vikings in the last eight of the competition.
The Broncos are also in with a chance of reaching the semi-finals after being drawn away to Sheffield Eagles – the only Championship club remaining in the competition.
They will need to improve on their performance against the Warriors, irrespective of the lower-league opposition, if they are to stand a chance of claiming some silverware, with coach Tony Rea admitting his players were simply blown away in the opening exchanges.
"The players did not come out with any sort of intent and Wigan have the players who can exploit those gaps. We know there will be lows after highs, but such a low as that is unacceptable,” he concluded.
"We are measuring ourselves against teams like Wigan, and I thought there were performances out there today that showed me a lot of those players are not the answer in terms of where this club wants to be.
"We have some challenging times ahead and some tough decisions have to be made."
