Pendleton launches Olympic-style cycling class

Sprint cycling specialist Victoria Pendleton has launched the 'Victoria Pendleton Pro Cycling class' - her very own Olympic-style get-fit training programme.

The nine-time World Champion, one of Britain's most successful cyclists, has teamed up with Fitness First to put together three unique classes based around her training for last summer's memorable Games - the individual sprint, team sprint and the keirin.

Pendleton scooped gold in team sprint at the Track World Cup Classics and keirin at the 2012 Olympics in London, and a silver in the sprint as part of the hugely successful Team GB cycling team.

And she's lifted the lid on some of the secrets behind her high-intensity training that got her in tip-top Olympic shape for the three events last summer.

"I've worked very closely with the Fitness First team to create this class which is a great representation of both my training techniques and the performance intensity when racing," said Pendleton.

"I am passionate about getting more people fit and healthy so this class is definitely a great way of achieving this."

The three 30-minute classes are as follows:

Individual Sprint - Focussing around speed interval training, this 30 minute class ends with a cat and mouse race where one of the riders will lead the sprint to the finish. Definitely a class that will get the blood pumping!

Team Sprint – This fast paced 30 minute group cycling class focuses around power. With short 15 second sprints set at a high resistance followed by a race element where riders work in teams, this class simulates one of Victoria’s events; the Team Sprint.

Keirin – Inspired by another of Victoria’s events, this 30 minute endurance based class focuses around slightly longer intervals of training followed by short recovery periods. The race ends with a four lap Keirin high intense race which will leave riders hanging on until the end!

And of course, it wouldn't be a unique Pendleton experience without a hand-picked selection of some of the Olympic gold medallist's favourite tracks to get you motivated.
