Manchester City and Chelsea have been given a boost in their chase for Radamel Falcao after he got the blessing of his club for a transfer.

Chelsea have been linked with a move for the Colombian goal machine, as Jose Mourinho is reportedly keen to see him move to Stamford Bridge.

The current Real Madrid box is expected to take over the Blues this summer for a second time and reports have suggested he has already given Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich a summer shopping list.

However, Manchester City have also been credited with an interest as they look to overhaul the squad in a bid to win back the Premier League title.

Current Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini is being hotly tipped to take over at the Etihad Stadium in the wake of Roberto Mancini’s sacking last week and he is also reportedly keen on Falcao.

Monaco are another team said to be interested in the 27-year-old and Atletico have confirmed they are willing to let their prized asset leave after they guaranteed Champions League football for next season.

“Before the start of the season we talked with (Falcao) and we promised him if he keeps the same performance and he helps us to arrive to the UEFA Champions League next season, Atletico will help to you,” general manager Miguel Angel Gil is quoted as saying in the Express.

“Every decision he will take, Atletico will be with him.”
