Things are looking a lot more positive for Fernando Torres at Chelsea these days.

The former Atletico Madrid and Liverpool striker seems to have found form at the right time, and with the 23 goals he has scored this season, the Spaniard thinks he is the man to fire Chelsea to Premier League glory next season.

Torres will face stiff competition for places next season in the striking department, with Demba Ba finding good form at times since his move from Newcastle in January. Also, Chelsea will look to recall Belgian Romelu Lukaku after his successful loan spell at West Brom. Lukaku has impressed in the Midlands, and his second-half hat-trick ensured a share of the spoils against Manchester United on Sunday.

But it seems competition for places will not faze Torres, as it did when he first joined Chelsea, with the player looking forward to next season.

“We deserved to finish in the top three. It was not the target in the beginning of the season but it was the main target in the last couple of months, so we are happy to secure third place and we now know we are going to play in the Champions League again next season,” Torres told Chelsea TV.

Torres was also quick to highlight the importance of the Europa League trophy that the Blues secured in Amsterdam after a 2-1 victory over Benfica on Wednesday.

“It was a great week for the club, the players, the supporters, everyone- and we achieved this with the two targets we have been fighting for in the last couple of months so we can go on holiday with that job done.

“It has been a very good end of the season for me as well. I am feeling much better, and am playing more than before so I am happy. When you play more often the goals come. It makes everything easier and I am really looking forward to next season,” continued Torres.
