With much speculation surrounding Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho, Real Madrid have announced that he will leave his post at the Bernabeu at the end of the season.

With so many people talking about where 'The Special one' will be managing next season, a meeting washeld with Madrid president Florentino Perez.

After the pair met, Perez confirmed Mourinho's departure and told reporters: "We've decided to bring our relationship to an end.

"Nobody's been sacked, it's a mutual agreement.

"The club and manager agree the timing is right to bring our relationship to an end.

Mourinho himself had made it known that a new challenge may await him next season.

Having seen Barcelona run away with the La Liga title this season, much emphasis came on both the Champions League and Copa del Rey to ensure a major piece of silverware this season.

But, having been swept aside by the brilliant Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League, all eyes were on Mourinho and his men in the Copa del Rey final.

Playing their local rivals, Atletico, many expected Madrid to over come Falcao and co.  But this was not to be the case, and with Mourinho sent off from the touchline in the 76th minute, his side went on to be beaten in extra time.

A miserable night for Mourinho was made complete when superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was sent-off in extra-time for his reaction to a challenge from Atletico's Gabi.

And as the rumours continue to circulate about Mourinho's next destination, Madrid need to ensure that their next manager will be able to return the glory and silverware to the Bernabeu.

As for Mourinho himself, it now seems almost a dead certainty that he will be back at Stamford Bridge next season.

Chelsea fans will be delighted with the news that he is confirmed to leave Madrid, and with interim manager Rafa Benitez bowing out of his managerial position, everything now seems in place for the 'Special One' to return to the club that he turned into Premier League champions.
