Wayne and Coleen Rooney are celebrating the birth of their second child.

Klay Anthony Rooney was born at 2.11am, at the Liverpool Women's Hospital earlier today, the same facility where Coleen gave birth to their first child, Kai, in November.

"Our Beautiful Son Klay Anthony Rooney was born at 2.11am, weighing 7Ib 11.1/2 oz.

"Both Klay and Coleen are fine..... We're all delighted!!" (Wayne) Rooney wrote on his official Facebook page.

Coleen had last been seen on the pitch at Old Trafford, as Manchester United celebrated their Premier League title triumph following victory over Swansea City.

However, the 27-year-old was absent from the Red Devils Players' Awards last week as the birth moved ever closer.

Wayne was also absent from Sir Alex Ferguson's final game in charge of Manchester United at The Hawthorns on Sunday, as the Scot gave his striker permission not to travel to West Brom to remain with his wife.

The birth of Klay takes the Rooney clan up to four – one short of a possible five-a-side team. And, with another son, bookmakers are sure to be offering odds on a Rooney strike partnership leading England at the 2034 World Cup.
