Crowds at football matches aren’t always the friendliest places in the world, but every so often they produce moments of true humour – Chelsea fans were the latest to do so.

Stamford Bridge was winding down to the end of season speeches after the Blues’ final day win over Everton when the retiring Paulo Ferreira was interrupted by one end of the stadium.

A noise was growing as Josh Turnbull, the two-year-old son of goalkeeper Ross, edged closer to the goal dribbling a football.

Fans behind the goal started cheering, getting louder and louder as the tiny figure decked out in full Chelsea kit dribbled closer to the goal.

The ball finally crossed the line to huge cheers from the watching fans and, after a moment of confusion, little Josh held his fists aloft in celebration, which prompted further cheers.

It was a hilarious moment captured by someone in the stands, as chants of “sign him up” rang out.
