Real Madrid have decided to up the ante in their bid to sign Gareth Bale after Tottenham hotspur’s latest move to try and keep him.
It was reported that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy was set to offer Bale a new contract with a significant pay increase in a bid to ward off interest from the likes of Real Madrid.
However, this does not seem to be working as the Daily Star are reporting that Santiago Bernabeu president Florentino Perez is desperate to land the Welsh wing wizard this summer.
It claims that Real Madrid have offered Bale a five-year deal that promises to match any wages being offered by Tottenham, while they have told the White Hart Lane club they are prepared to pay £43million for his services.
Tottenham’s offer to Bale is said to be in the region of £150,000-a-week and containing a clause that would allow him to leave next summer if a £50million bid came in for him.
The Daily Star report claims Real Madrid are so keen to get Bale to the Spanish capital this summer they have offered Tottenham one of four players as part of the deal.
Pepe, Marcelo, Gonzalo Higuain and Angel di Maria are the four players, but the only one Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas is reportedly interested in, Higuain, does not want to move to a club outside of the Champions League.
