With the end of the Premier League season upon us, it is time to look forward to the summer period with the possible dealings of each club on the agenda.

As always, many players will be linked with Arsenal; and with Wenger promising to spend in the summer, this could finally be the year that Arsenal fans see the club make some marquee signings.

Here we will look at potential signings from position to position.

Every season Arsenal’s goalkeepers come under a great deal of scrutiny and this season has been no different; with Szczesny coming under fire for his inconsistent performances.

As a result, Arsenal have been linked to several goalkeepers, albeit some more feasible options than others. QPR’s Julio Cesar and Stuttgart’s Sven Ulreich seem to be the favourites to join Arsenal’s ranks.

However, several others have been named in the media, including Stoke’s Asmir Begovic, Liverpool’s Pepe Reina and Real Madrid’s Iker Casillas.

Realistically, Julio Cesar is the perfect candidate for the goalkeeping spot. Although fans would love to see Begovic, as he is a top quality keeper plying his trade in the lower echelons of the Premier League and has the quality to play for a bigger club.

Arsenal seem to have finally found a decent defensive setup but with Bacary Sagna’s potential departure to PSG and Vermaelen’s form failing to impress, there are vacancies at the back.

Aston Villa’s Matthew Lowton and Borussia Dortmund’s Lukasz Piszczek have been linked to the spot at right back, while Swansea’s Ashley Williams, Valencia’s Adil Rami and PSG’s Mamadou Sahko could potentially bolster the centre of defence.

All of the above are quality defenders but Piszczek would probably provide the most quality to the Arsenal squad.

Arsenal already have a solid base in the middle of the park, however, there is something missing. Could this missing piece be former Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas? The Barcelona man has been linked with a return to the Emirates, as is teammate and fellow former Arsenal player Alex Song. Wigan’s James McCarthy, Palermo’s Josip Ilicic, Getafe’s Abdelaziz Barrada and Lyon’s Maxime Gonalons have all also been linked with moves in the hope of potentially strengthening the side.

Fans would love to see both Fabregas and Song back at Arsenal but a move for the pair seems highly unlikely. Out of the rest,  Gonalons has the quality to fit into the Arsenal midfield and McCarthy could potentially make the step up.

Arsenal forward Olivier Giroud has come under a certain amount of scrutiny in his first season at Arsenal; resulting in Arsenal being linked to an endless list of forwards. Fiorentina’s Stevan Jovetic, QPR’s Loic Remy, Vitesse’s Wilfried Bony, Barcelona’s David Villa and Manchester City’s Edin Dzeko have all reportedly interested Wenger.

Each and every one of those strikers oozes quality, and with Arsenal seemingly already sealing the Jovetic deal, I would love to see any of the others joining the ranks.
