Exclusive: Jimmy Bullard hails 'proper player' Dimitar Berbatov
Jimmy Bullard hails Fulham striker Dimitar Berbatov after season of ups and downs at Craven Cottage
Jimmy Bullard has hailed 'proper player' Dimitar Berbatov after a season of ups and downs at Fulham.
The midfielder enjoyed three-seasons at Craven Cottage after moving from Wigain in 2006, and became a cult hero for the club during his spell in north London.
And, the 34-year-old is in no doubt over which player has been key for the club this season, describing the Bulgarian hitman as a 'proper player'.
The former Hull City man also said with a smile that the veteran forward has been able to get the club out of trouble much like he used to do during his time with the club.
"Yeah, they are always steady in the Premier League. It's been a season of ups and downs, but they've got Berbatov to get them out of trouble like they used to have Bullard back in the day," he told GiveMeFootball at Wentworth.
"Berbatov is an absolute player. He dictates the play, does it all at his own pace. A proper footballer who I really like watching and has been key for the club this season."
Bullard, who has considered a career as a professional golfer since retiring from football, was speaking to GMF at Wentworth during the BMW-PGA Championship pro-am.
Often the joker in the pack during his football career, Bullard was forced to retire after injury problems curtailed his progression at the highest level.
