Jose Mourinho wants to hijack Arsenal’s move for Fiorentina forward Stevan Jovetic as he prepares for his return to Chelsea in the summer.

According to the Daily Star, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger has had Jovetic at the top of his summer transfer wish list and was confident of bringing him to Emirates Stadium.

However, the report claims that now Mourinho has been confirmed as leaving Real Madrid at the end of the season he is ready to start the process of landing his transfer targets.

One of these is the talented Montenegro international – a development that will worry Chelsea’s London rivals Arsenal.

Despite reports of Wenger being given an unprecedented amount of money to spend this summer, Arsenal do not have the financial might to match Stamford Bridge’s oligarch owner, Roman Abramovich.

Wenger has reportedly been in talks with Fiorentina for some time over the signing of Jovetic, though the Italian side will welcome other interest.

Especially as they missed out on Serie A’s final Champions League place on a dramatic final round of fixtures, where they were in position to qualify until the last six minutes of AC Milan’s game against Siena.

Were Chelsea to sign Jovetic, he would likely be one of a few new names to join at the beginning of Mourinho’s second stint in charge, as interim manager Rafael Benitez reveals his successor would be handed a £100million transfer kitty.
