With all the attention on Mario Gotze ahead of the Champions League final at Wembley this weekend, it could be another Borussia Dortmund youth product who steals the show.
Marco Reus has shown this season that he is the real deal and can turn a match on its head with his direct running, technique and amazing speed.
The 23-year-old Germany international has enjoyed a wonderful first season at Dortmund, where he started his professional career. He was brought in as a replacement for Shinji Kagawa, who moved to Manchester United last summer. Since his moved he has scored 18 goals in all competitions as well as bagging 11 assists.
The 2012 German Footballer of the Year has picked up where he left off last season, tormenting defenders and midfielders with his pace and direct style of play. He has added another dimension to the Dortmund attack as he is able to play behind the striker and out wide on either flank.
With all the focus on Gotze due to his proposed summer move to Bayern Munich, Reus can slip under the radar and do the damage for the Black and Yellow outfit.
He is a very quick player who scores lots of goals running at top speed and has a very powerful shot on him. He is comfortable with the ball on both feet and very composed in front of goal.
Reus was the best player over the two legs against Real Madrid in the semi-finals and will be looking to continue his good run of form in the final.
He knows the Bayern team very well and he certainly has a point to prove - as he chose to go back home instead of moving to the Allianz Arena last summer.
Dortmund may look at the clash against the Bavarians at the Signal Iduna Park where the German Champions lost the cool and received four yellow cards and a red card. Should Dortmund frustrate Bayern then this is what may happen as the Bavarians are very eager to capture the Champions League trophy. By doing this and giving free kicks away around the penalty area can be costly as Reus is a dead ball specialist who is very good at set pieces.
His delivery is normally very good and accurate which can cause Manuel Neuer lots of problems in the Bayern Munich goal. All in all it should be a great contest between the top two German teams with nothing but bad-blood between them. The transfer of Gotze has added spice to the contest but Marco Reus will be looking to spoil the party and he has the ability to win the trophy for Borussia Dortmund.
