Jessica Ennis will get her summer outdoor season underway next month as she takes part in the UK Women's Athletic League Premier Division meet on June 8.

The 27-year-old will compete in the hurdles, javelin and the long jump in Edinburgh, Scotland.

Ennis hasn't made an outdoors appearance since she claimed a historic gold at the London Olympics last summer, and will begin her preparations for the World Championships in earnest at Edinburgh's Meadowbank Sports Centre next month.

The Sheffield native, who married fiancé Andy Hill last weekend, says she is looking forward to getting back into competitive action ahead of the World Championships, which get underway in Moscow in August.

"I am looking forward to getting back into competition at Meadowbank," said Ennis.

"Last year I had some wonderful highs for obvious reasons but you cannot stand still for long in any sport - let alone one like athletics.

"I have been training hard with a view to this summer's events and the World Championships in Moscow in August is the major goal."

The World Championships get underway on August 10, with Ennis looking to claim a second gold medal at the event, and go one better than her silver in Daegu in 2011.
