Wayne Rooney stars in new England kit commercial

Published 1 Comments

“It’s a shirt; it’s what you do in it that matters” is the tagline in the new commercial, starring Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, for Nike’s first go at producing the England kit.

It’s a simple advert and runs with a theme that a shirt is nothing more than that and player like Wayne Rooney make it matter.

Rooney is seen from behind walking through St George’s Park complex, accompanied by a deep baseline, before heading out onto a training pitch.

A narrator extolls the virtues of the players wearing the kits, insisting that players like Rooney put in the effort that provokes passion in fans that can lead to a shirt being treasured.

An interesting selling angle by the sports clothing manufacturer and the production is as slick and stylish as one would expect.

Wayne Rooney is set to wear the shirt for the first time against Republic of Ireland next week at Wembley, as part of the FA’s ongoing 150th anniversary celebrations.
