Now the Premier League season has come to an end, all the attention heads to the up-coming summer transfer window.

In recent years, players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Luka Modric and Rafael van der Vaart have left the Premier League for other leagues in Europe.

So, here we look at which players may depart from England's top division this summer:

Gareth Bale

Gareth Bale’s reputation has increased dramatically over the last two seasons, and this term he has established himself as one of the best players in the world.

Each of his goals eclipses the last one, in terms of importance and sheer brilliance, and they have been the catalyst for Spurs’ push for the Champions League this season.

With the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid chasing his signature, Tottenham face a major battle to keep hold of their star player, as task made much harder by their failure to secure a place in Europe’s top competition.

Lukas Podolski

Lukas Podolski has been an Arsenal player for less than twelve months, but has emerged as a target for Turkish champions Galatasaray, who may offer Arsenal £12 million for the German international.

Podolski has had a good first season in English football, scoring sixteen goals, but he has developed a reputation as a player who is substituted in virtually every appearance.

He has also grown frustrated at his lack of opportunity to play through the middle, in stead been played on the left of a front three. He could be tempted to Turkey by the prospect of playing alongside the likes of Didier Drogba and Wesley Sneijder.

Carlos Tevez

Manchester City striker Carlos has linked with a move away from the Etihad stadium for some time, with Juventus the most recent team to emerge as candidates for his signature.

The striker has previously hinted at wanting to return to his native Argentina and it looks like the Tevez saga will remerge this summer.

Thomas Vermaelen

Arsenal centre-back and captain Thomas Vermaelen has fallen out of favour at the Emirates this season, and has struggled to establish himself in the team, following the development of a solid partnership of Per Mertesacker and Laurent Koscielny.

The Belgian international is a potential target for Barcelona, who are trying to strengthen their ageing defence. The La Liga champions have already poached Alex Song and Cesc Fabregas from Arsenal in recent years, and the Gunners captain could be lured there by the prospect of winning silverware.
