Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola believes Jose Mourinho has all the credentials to take charge and succeed once again at Stamford Bridge.

The Real Madrid chief is set to leave the Santiago Bernabeu at the end of the season, and is red-hot favourite to take take the helm in west London once again.

‘The Special One’ has already enjoyed a fruitful spell with the Blues, winning two Premier League titles, two League Cups and one FA Cup during his three-year reign. He was however, unable to win the Champions League for owner Roman Abramovich.

Whilst Roberto Di Matteo did achieve that feat, he was axed the following year, and Rafa Benitez’s interim reign is now over at Chelsea. A vacancy has now been left to fill following the manager movement, and Zola is hoping Mourinho delivers the goods once again if he does get the nod as expected..

“Mourinho is certainly a man with great credentials, and there is no doubt that he can do the job. He has proved that in the past,” Zola told GiveMeSport in an exclusive interview

“If he takes over, I hope he can bring Chelsea great success once again and think he can. The fans deserve trophies because they are always fantastic to the players.”

Zola was speaking ahead of Watford’s play-off final against Crystal Palace at Wembley, with the Italian just 90 minutes away from a return to the Premier League.
