Liverpool can gain from managerial exits

As Liverpool set their sights on next season, much will need to be achieved before the Reds can challenge for major European and domestic trophies again.

Next season will most probably provide Liverpool's best opportunity in years to make Champions League Football. With a train of managers respectively departing Manchester United, Manchester City, and Chelsea - Liverpool will hope that a dry patch follows the big three and leaves the Reds with less to contend with next season. The retirement of Jaime Carragher and the probable departure of Martin Skrtel has left manager Brendan Rodgers with a desperate need for a defensive reshuffle.

Speculation suggests that Kolo Toure seems destined to arrive at Anfield from Manchester City. But Carragher's main replacement needs to be someone with youth and substance and that is why the Reds have made Greece International Kyriakos Papadopoulos their number one interest.

The Schalke defender is set for a move out of the club and the likes of Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are also in the hunt for the talented 21-year-old.

Up front, Liverpool do not need much restructuring. If the Reds can manage to keep hold of star striker Luis Suarez, it will be a signing in itself and with the support of Daniel Sturridge, Philippe Coutinho and possibly one more attacking acquisition, Liverpool will be a real threat in attack.

The Liverpool midfield is screaming for someone in the mould of captain Steven Gerrard to orchestrate the Liverpool midfield. Perhaps a look into the German Bundesliga will provide some raw talent for the Reds. The industrious nature of German players is exactly what Liverpool need at the moment; someone with the fire and vigour for success and the hard work to go with it.

Liverpool fans will hope that the scouting and recruitment talents of Rodgers will exceed his predecessors, so that real quality can come in and stick with the club.

A lack of depth and inconsistency has been Liverpool's number one enemy in recent seasons. There is perhaps no bigger time for Liverpool to shine. With all competing clubs going through transformation, now will be the time to start building for next season. Again Liverpool rely on that famous old saying,''Next Season!!!''. It will be interesting to see what does happen next season.
