£40m Manchester United target on Real Madrid radar

Manchester United are among a host of Premier League clubs set to be disappointed by Arturo Vidal this summer.

The 26-year-old Chilean international has been courted by the Red Devils, as well as Arsenal and Manchester City, but The Daily Star claims the player will opt for a move to Real Madrid instead.

Carlo Ancelotti is tipped to succeed Jose Mourinho at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, and Spanish paper Marca claims it’s on his recommendation that the club are pursuing the signature of Vidal.

The Juventus playmaker won’t come cheap though, with the Serie ‘A’ champions putting a £40million price tag on his head. Any deal involving Los Blancos could see Gonzalo Higuain moving in the opposite direction.

It’s sure to be a blow to Manchester United, who was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford during the final stages of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign.

Whether David Moyes was also keen on the player is unknown, but the champions will be light in the attacking midfield position after Paul Scholes announced his retirement earlier in the month.

And, Vidal does not appear to be the man to replace the Manchester United legend next season.
