Five greatest Champions League final heroes (1)

Football News

As you may have heard mention, the UEFA Champions League final is taking place at Wembley between two German clubs, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.

This promises to be an almighty clash but GMF has an inkling that the difference between two such closely matched teams will need the emergence of a hero.

The news that Mario Götze, who is transferring from Dortmund to Bayern in the summer, is out injured has meant one of the prime candidates is taken from us.

However, there are plenty of other players that could have a match-winning turn written in the stars.

Robert Lewandowski is another BVB superstar that has been tipped to switch to Bavaria next season and he has the ability to make the trophy a leaving present for manager Jürgen Klopp.

Dutch winger Arjen Robben will have been facing a demon or two after his extra-time penalty miss against Chelsea in last season’s final – a final they then went on to lose on penalties after dominating throughout.

Thinking about all the wonderful possibilities for Saturday evening’s clash had GMF reminiscing about the heroes that emerged in previous Champions League finals.

There were certainly a few to choose from but GMF decided a top five would be necessary.
