Santos have confirmed they have accepted two bids for Neymar from unnamed clubs, but the Brazil international is in no rush to make a decision, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 21-year-old forward held a meeting with his father and officials from the club to discuss his options but has not yet decided what he plans to do next.
The report claims Barcelona and Real Madrid are the two clubs believed to be involved. Neymar has been linked with a number of Europe’s top clubs in the past 12 months, including Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City.
But it looks likely the Brazilian forward, who has one year remaining on his Santos contract, will end up in La Liga.
A statement from Santos read: “In a meeting with representatives of the management committee of Santos FC, striker Neymar Jr was made aware of the offers received by the club and he will analyse them in the coming days before making a final decision.”
And speaking to Brazilian sports news agency globoesporte.globo.com, as reported by the Daily Mirror, Neymar confirmed he was in no rush to make an immediate decision.
“This is an honour, the happiest moment of my life,” said Neymar. “I will now think carefully about these proposals.
“I will decide with my family. I’m in no hurry. The decision may come out in five minutes, half an hour or three days.”
And Neymar’s father, Neymar da Silva Sr, who also represents the player, said: “Now we will go home, sit down and talk. We could not make a decision in the heat of the moment. Let’s talk and see what Neymar wants.”
The 21-year-old sensation came through the youth ranks at Santos, and has already made more than 30 appearances for his country.
The report claims Chelsea have tried and failed to sign the youngster in the past, while Barca have a long-standing interest. And the Nou Camp club remain the favourites to sign Neymar, with some reports claiming a deal between the two parties is as good as done.
The initial club statement from Santos which confirmed the two bids read: “Santos FC announces that it has received two offers for the player Neymar da Silva Santos Junior.
“Given the offers and conditions of the player’s contract, the management committee of the club have decided to sell the player.
“Neymar Jr and his father are expected at the Vila Belmiro stadium to choose which offer the player will accept. “
