Borussia Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is reportedly looking to replace the Bayern Munich-bound Mario Gotze by signing Ajax midfielder Christian Eriksen.

The Denmark international is one of Europe's most promising rising stars and is expected to leave the Dutch club this summer.

Liverpool as well as Manchester United were believed to be in the hunt to sign the 21-year-old midfielder. However, according to reports in Denmark, a fee of around £13m has been agreed between Ajax and Dortmund.

Eriksen has impressed several big European clubs with his sublime performances in the Champions League as well as in the Eredivisie and was expected to make a big summer move to the Premier League.

Liverpool defender Daniel Agger had recently urged his Denmark team-mate to join the Merseyside this summer. After signing Kolo Toure on a free transfer, Brendan Rodgers is looking to boost the club's attack to finish in the top four next season.

However, Rodgers as well as newly appointed Manchester United boss David Moyes have failed to acquire Eriksen's signature.

A move to the Champions League runner-ups looks perfect since the club is looking to replace Gotze, who will join Bayern Munich after both the clubs agreed a fee of £31.5m in July.

Borussia Dortmund is expected to offer the Denmark international a five-year contract.
