As we know, Arsenal are looking to spend big, and set to have a massive clear-out of unneeded or unused players.
It’s been a long time coming, and with a potential £70 million being prepared for the summer, the fans hope after a long and disappointing wait, that finally the club will see the answers to their trophy drought.
That’s all well and good, but there are some players that Arsenal have been recently linked with, whom aren’t quite the most experienced players. One strongly linked player is Swansea City defender Ashley Williams.
He’s been a great asset to the Welsh club and the national side. He’s growing into a top defender, and has shown great potential. However, is this the type of player Arsenal should be looking at?
Football fans don’t agree on many things, but every Arsenal fan knows exactly what they need. They need players with experience, world-class talent who has a desire to win trophies. Williams is a great player, but he may not have the calibre Arsenal need to have a chance claiming silverware.
Although, it seems Arsenal put interest in top players, but always seem to lose out. The move for Montenegro superstar Stevan Jovetic seemed to be a likely signing, but now a shadow of doubt has been recently casted.
Another top striker in Higuain, now looks set for a move to Juventus. It’s almost as if Arsenal back out of major signings and look at young talent as they isn’t going to be any fight for their signature.
The Gunners are very close to signing Ligue 2 player Yaya Sanogo. This star seems to be an exciting prospect for the London side but again, is this the right kind of player Arsenal should be looking at? It’s early days but Arsenal may be up their old ways and looking at the future rather than the near future.
They need those top players such as Jovetic and it is important that they get a foot in the transfer market door.
A couple of big name signings could be enough to see Arsenal challenge for the Premier League trophy next season. If they want to avoid competition from other clubs, then they should make their moves sufficiently to ensure they have the first say on a player.
Whilst many fans have seen good come from the Robin van Persie sale last year, others still have doubt that they have made any attempt to replace the Dutchman.
It’s fair to say that the club did better this season without him than anyone expected. They finished above rivals Tottenham, and have secured that all-important top four finish. This means that they have a stronger chance of getting those top players. Arsenal simply shouldn’t waste this opportunity.
Of course no team will make a top signing within the first day of the transfer market, but Arsenal should really start to show that they mean business and want to fight for silverware.
Signing players who have little experiences, surely isn’t the answer the fans are looking for? Who knows, players like Williams may be the next Premier League superstar, and Wenger may have a few tricks up his sleeve in the upcoming months.
One thing is for certain however, Arsenal need to make the right moves for the right players this summer, if they want to be that title winning team once more.
