France under-20 star Alexandre Coeff got this year's Toulon Tournament underway in style with a stunning scorpion kick goal against the United States.

In the competition's opening match, the Lens midfielder fired in the first goal in the 38th minute - twisting backwards to back-heel a cross past the keeper's despairing dive.

The 21-year-old appears to have a bright future in Ligue 1, having cracked the Lens first team back in 2011.

A horrible knee injury halted his progress as a youngster, but he's come back to star for the Lens senior squad and earn four caps for the France under-20s.

France went on to win the match 4-1 on Tuesday, as they look to extend their status as the tournament's most successful side.

France have won the competition 11 times since it first started in 1967, five more times than second placed Brazil.
