Europe’s elite clubs: the big summer questions (9)

Bayern Munich

Pep Guardiola agreeing to become the Bavarians’ new manager next season was surprise to many at the time – not so much anymore. Bayern are almost certain to add the German Cup trophy to the Bundesliga and Champions League titles they have already claimed this season.

Jupp Heynckes’ side have been sensational this season and an historic triple will provide as difficult a test of Guardiola’s managerial talents as there can be, though the Bayern board have already shown their intent to back him.

They have already confirmed the signing of their rival’s best player in Borussia Dortmund’s Mario Götze and Jürgen Klopp’s star striker Robert Lewandowski has been tipped to follow him. Many have cited this as being a new era of domination in Europe – what better man to guide the Germans to than the one that oversaw the last.
