Any wrestling fan who grew up in the Attitude Era will tell you that it was unlike any other time in wrestling history.

Every Friday night I would sit down to watch the likes of Stone Cold take on Vince McMahon, The Rock 'lay the SmackDown' and DX stick it to the establishment. But now its a different scenario.

Cheap story-lines by even cheaper wrestlers have epitomised the complete spiral of the WWE. More and more I find myself cringing at the ever more unbelievable and poorly acted story-lines which have left me completely disenchanted with the WWE.

I used to find myself on the edge of my seat screaming for more, the story-lines were captivating and quite simply amazing. You could attribute that to youth but I believe it was a mixture of larger than life actors who fully believed what they were doing.

Stone Cold Steve Austin, the man who represented every person who wanted to get one over on their boss, week-in-week-out did so on the evil McMahon and won many championships in the process.

The Rock, 'The People's Champion' who captured hearts and electrified the audience with in ring performances and mic ability which was unparalleled.

Degeneration X, the rebellious group who lead the way in the fight against WCW even as far as invading the rival brand and causing mayhem, a personal favourite of mine.

Even the likes of the Hardy Boyz, Dudley Boys and Edge and Christian whose TLC matches left me quite simply stunned.

All have been replaced by, quite frankly, sub par wrestlers who can win a championship in a week.

It used to be that it would be years to win a championships but now the likes of Albert Del Rio who turns up one week and is Champion the next.

With special guest hosts and more advertisement, the WWE has lost its soul and as some of their bigger stars like the Undertaker, HHH and HBK seemingly look set to leave, it doesn't seem likely to reclaim it.
