Jose Mourinho & Guardiola to clash again
Chelsea will take on Bayern Munich at the start of next season
As is customary, the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League play each other in late August or early September following their victories.
This year, on August 30 2013, Bayern Munich and Chelsea will be playing at the Eden Arena in Prague, Czech Republic.
And that, subsequently, almost certainly means that Pep Guardiola and Jose Mourinho will renew their rivalry as the manager of Bayern Munich and Chelsea, respectively.
Guardiola managed Barcelona from 2008-2012, winning 14 trophies. There were fairly significant changes to the starting 11 from the start to the end of his career but, needless to say, the success of his squad is evident through the trophies he has won. He saw the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andres Iniesta flourish under his reign.
Jose Mourinho, meanwhile, began coaching for Real Madrid in the 2010. Despite never getting into the finals of the Champions League with Real Madrid, his success came with a domestic cup in the 2010 season and a league championship the year after.
His winning percentage with Real Madrid has been an incredible 72%, winning 127 while only losing 22, and his team scoring 468 goals while only letting up 163. He has coached legends such as Iker Casillas, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Kaka, and has arguably kept the Real Madrid dominance in Spain and in European competitions.
It has been known for a long time that Guardiola will take over Bayern Munich for next season. As he did for Barcelona, his desires for a specific squad will see few players leaving this summer and a wealth of talent entering. He has been given a very large transfer budget to spend on players by Munich.
While Mourinho is also likely to have money to spend when his return to Chelsea is finally confirmed by the club.
Mourinho may want to bolster his new midfield, and could bring at least one star player from Madrid to London, such as Luka Modric, Ronaldo, or Sami Khedira.
The rivalry between these two managers sparked because of two main reasons.
First, the rivalry between Barcelona and Real Madrid. In addition, seeing two of the best players of our generation, being Ronaldo and Messi, playing each other is only a site to be seen for a few more years. However, Guardiola has thus far triumphed over Mourinho with a record of seven wins, five draws and three losses.
The Super Cup between Bayern Munich and Chelsea will be an amazing, thrilling and exciting game to see. However, the relationship between Guardiola and Mourinho will add more fuel to the fire and make it even more interesting. More speculation and news on the Super Cup will be revealed as the date draws nearer.
