FC Basel striker Marco Streller must be kicking himself after he missed a chance to hand Basel their 16th league title after a 1-0 loss to rivals Grasshoppers on Sunday.
Basel were six points clear going into the match but are now only three points clear with two games to go.
With only one minute remaining, Streller was one on one with Grasshoppers goalkeeper Roman Burki to clinch Basel’s fourth consecutive title before he made a horrendous pass to fellow teammate Mohammed Salah.
Salah tried to pass back to Streller before Grasshoppers keeper Burki made a save.
Burki passed the ball out rapidly which allowed Grasshoppers to progress up the field before Frank Feltscher sent a ball into the box that was headed on to striker Anatole Ngamukol who tucked the ball into the back of the net and gave Grasshoppers the win.
Despite such misfortune, Basel still have three more points than Grasshoppers with two games remaining. You can watch the drama unfold below.
