With the Premier League having drawn to a close, we look back at some of the players who promised so much but failed light up the best league in the world this season.
It wasn’t just the most expensive players who failed to live up to expectations. In fact the most disappointing signing in this list was a free transfer.
From exciting young players to experienced internationals, none of the division’s flops have gone unnoticed noticed as we round up our top five.
5. Javi Garcia to Manchester City
Having been linked with a number of top clubs throughout Europe, Manchester City won the race for the Spanish international on transfer deadline day last summer.
However, despite a debut goal against Stoke and a man of the match performance, it soon became clear that Garcia was not the top talent that Roberto Mancini evidently thought he was and soon struggled to even make the City bench.
Now as the end of the season approaches the man once likened as the next Xabi Alonso is close to the exit after mediocre performances now mean he is well down the Eastlands pecking order!
4. Danny Graham to Sunderland
Despite impressing last season in Swansea's first Premier League campaign, Graham had become a bench warmer for the Welsh side this season after the arrival of Michu.
Therefore when the January transfer window came around and with Sunderland desperately in need of a striker and Graham a Tyneside lad. The two seemed the perfect match and on January deadline day Graham completed a £5m move to the Black Cats.
Although since then the romance has died, as with Sunderland now scraping for their lives at the bottom and Graham having not yet got off the mark in nine league games. It would appear that the two are more of a match made in hell.
3. Marko Marin to Chelsea
When it became apparent at the end of last term that one of Germany's brightest young stars would be singing for Chelsea on July 1 for just £6.5m, Chelsea fans thought they had a real bargain in Marko Marin.
How wrong they would prove to be! Having looked weak and devoid of any special footballing talent in the few games he has played for the Blues this season, many Chelsea fans are already labelling him their worst ever signing.
2. Emmanuel Adebayor to Spurs
Having impressed with 17 goals in 33 games at White Hart Lane last season, Tottenham fans were more than happy to see the Togolese international sign for the club permanently last summer.
However, with a miserly five goals so far this season and lacklustre displays to say the least when he has been on the pitch, Spurs fans have grown to loathe Adebayor. The majority of fans will be hoping Tottenham can bring in a better striker this summer.
1. Jose Bosingwa to QPR
How things can change in a year. This time last season he was preparing to face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final and now a year later he is preparing for the Championship with QPR.
The Portuguese international has been absolutely abysmal in the blue and white stripes this season and for the most part hasn't looked particularly bothered.
Also following relegation, the final straw for Hoops fans was him smiling as he left the pitch following confirmation of the club's fate.
