Manchester United face €25m fight for Italian international

Manchester United transfer target Claudio Marchisio is being linked with a €25million move to AS Monaco.

French publication L’Equipe claims the Ligue 2 champions are ready to continue their big-spending this summer, and are willing to make a serious offer for the Italian international midfielder.

James Rodriguez, Joao Moutinho and Ricardo Carvalho have already been drafted in at the Stade Louis II, and Colombian hitman Radamel Falcao is tipped to follow in the trio’s footsteps.

Marchisio made his professional debut for Juventus in 2006, and has only spent time away from the club during a season-long loan stint at Empoli the following year.

However, he’s being linked with a move away from the Juventus Stadium, and Manchester United are also thought to be keen on landing the player.

Indeed, The Daily Express claimed that the Red Devils were ready to go ‘full steam’ in a bid to bring the player to Old Trafford at the start of the month.

However, manager David Moyes has since replaced Sir Alex Ferguson at the Manchester United helm, and could have different transfer ideas for the Premier League champions.

Time will tell as to whether Marchisio is on the club’s radar, but the central midfielder would add competition alongside Tom Cleverley and Michael Carrick if he were to join Manchester United.
