Everton have narrowed their shortlist for a potential new manager down to three, according to reports.

David Moyes left the club earlier this month to take over at Manchester United and there has been much speculation as to who will replace him.

The Independent suggests Roberto Martinez is definitely one of the trio but it is unknown as to who the remaining two are.

It is alleged that Porto's Vitor Pereira has also been approached by the Toffees while Cardiff's Malky Mackay was also linked with the post. There were also rumours that the Merseyside club were interested in Celtic's Neil Lennon.

The Goodison Park side began with a list of around 30 names and since then, they have interviewed candidates from inside the club.

They then turned their attentions to managers who are currently without a team, while not disregarding the ones whose contracts are expiring at the end of the season.

If they cannot find a suitable replacement then they will look at managers who are currently at a club.
