Liverpool & Chelsea target could join 'top club'

Stoke City owner Peter Coates does not want to sell Liverpool and Chelsea target Asmir Begovic, but would not stand in the goalkeeper's way if a 'top club' offers the right amount of money, reports Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old has been heavily linked with a move away from the Britannia Stadium this summer, after another fine season for the Potters.

Chelsea have been credited with an interest in bringing Begovic to Stamford Bridge, despite the fact they already have Petr Cech and Thibaut Courtois to call upon.

Brendan Rodgers has also been linked with a move for the Bosnia international, as he too looks to strengthen his Anfield ranks ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

And, both Liverpool and Chelsea will have been encouraged by the latest comments from the Stoke City chairman, after he intimated that Begovic could be sold if a suitor is willing to meet his valuation of £15million.

"Asmir is a super professional player," Coates told Sky Sports. "We like him very much. He is a top, top goalkeeper. I think he is as good as anybody in the Premier League.

"But he is also ambitious. If top clubs come for your players, I do not think you can deny them the opportunity. That is my view.

"But it would depend very much on the money being right. We are not looking to sell him. We are not expecting to sell him. We expect him to be our goalkeeper next season."
