Real Madrid place Villas-Boas on managerial shortlist

Published 2 Comments

Real Madrid will try to bring in Andre Villas-Boas if they fail to install either Carlo Ancelotti and Jupp Heynckes as their new manager.

Madrid announced earlier this month that Jose Mourinho would be leaving the club by 'mutual consent', with the 'Special One' seemingly on his way to Chelsea.

The Spanish giants have so far been frustrated in their attempts to instal PSG boss Ancelotti as their new manager, with recent reports suggesting they have turned their attention to Bayern Munch's Champions League winning coach.

The Mirror claim, citing a report in Spanish newspaper AS, that Madrid have also identified Villas-Boas as a potential target this summer.

The 35-year-old has restored his reputation at Spurs following a doomed spell at Chelsea - however he could not guide the north London club to a Champions League spot this season.

If Villas-Boas was to make the move to the Bernabeu it would represent the third club both he and Jose Mourinho have managed.

Real Madrid have also been linked with a move for Spurs ace Gareth Bale this summer, with the Welshman's agent admitting he would 'listen' to any offer made by Los Blancos this summer.
