Jose Mourinho will lead the Real Madrid for the last time tonight against Osasuna before heading back to Chelsea.

However, before exiting the Bernabeu, the Portuguese coach has been accused by former Real Madrid star Guti of running away.

“We expected big things of him but he’s been a letdown for all Madrid fans," the retired midfielder said. “It’s not the lack of trophies this season which is the problem.

“But when you’ve had your worst season, showing a bit more humility would have done us all a favour.

“I think it’s fair to say he jumped ship when you have a four-year contract and then want to leave as soon as you have an average season.”

Guti spent 14 years at the Bernabeu, leaving in 2010 when Mourinho arrived.

He added: “The most recent comments from Pepe, Cristiano Ronaldo and Iker Casillas give the impression that the situation had become untenable.

“So maybe Mourinho thought that leaving would be in Madrid’s best interests."

Last month, Real president Florentino Perez announced that the 50-year-old will depart as the manager of the club at the end of the season. Mourinho has since barely spoken in public.

“Mourinho will have success wherever he goes and probably would have achieved more if he had stayed longer”, Guti concluded.

Meanwhile, another former Real Madrid player Luis Figo said: “The fans should be fair and I hope he will get a good send-off.”
