Arsenal have been put on alert after Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain stated his desire to leave the club this summer.

Arsene Wenger is thought to be keen on the Argentinean to bolster his attacking options and the deal looks more likely after Higuain confirmed that he wants to leave the club.

The 25-year-old told the media: “I am leaving Real Madrid, the decision has been made, I feel the time is right and I want a change of scenery.

“I have not decided where I will go, but the club already know that I want to go. It was my decision.

“I feel that this is the end of my cycle here. I came here for £10 million and I am leaving for more.

“I want to go where I can prove myself really. I have several offers. I hope that [Madrid] do the best for me and for themselves.”

Higuain has also been linked to Serie A champions Juventus and the striker refused to rule out that he could be heading to Turin.

When questioned on a move to Juventus he said: “They are a possibilty, but I do not know.”

Higuain has scored over 100 goals in La Liga during his seven seasons at the club and will command a high fee wherever he goes.

If he does leave the club this summer then he signed off in spectacular fashion after scoring in Real Madrid’s 4-2 win over Osasuna.
